New NIH Requirement for Publishing ACCEL Results and Outcomes

The NIH has issued an important update to its Public Access Policy. Effective July 1, 2025, any NIH-funded research—including ACCEL-supported work—must be made immediately publicly available in PubMed Central (PMC) upon journal acceptance. This change removes the previous allowance for embargo periods and applies to any Author Accepted Manuscript resulting from NIH funding, including grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, training grants, and intramural research.

ACCEL investigators and awardees are strongly encouraged to review the updated policy to ensure compliance.
