Parkinson’s Disease Etiology and Subtypes

We will discuss about different risk factors for Parkinson’s disease including the gut theory and ideas behind how Parkinson’s disease develops.  We will also discuss the different subtypes of Parkinson’s disease.  These two issues are important when thinking about future research projects and methods with Parkinson patients.

Meet the Speaker

Justin P. Martello, MD

Justin P. Martello, M.D., a board certified neurologist specializing in movement disorders and Parkinson’s Disease at Christiana Care Health System. Dr. Martello earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He completed his neurology residency as well as his fellowship in movement disorders at University of Maryland Medical Center. After earning his bachelor’s degree with honors in biology from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where he was a research team member at Johns Hopkins/Kennedy Krieger Institute.
