SUMMARY:Tech Talk: Multivariate Analysis for Investigators
DESCRIPTION:Multivariable analysis refers to statistical models that incorporate multiple independent or response variables. Such models include several variables on the right side of the equation\, enabling the assessment of relationships between numerous factors while accounting for potential confounders. Multivariate statistics encompasses various forms of analysis tailored to different objectives across numerous fields. These analyses serve several purposes\, such as examining data patterns\, facilitating clear comparisons\, eliminating irrelevant information\, and studying multiple factors simultaneously. Considering a multitude of variables makes multivariate analysis both complex and indispensable. Its greatest strength lies in incorporating as many factors as possible\, which minimizes bias and yields results that closely reflect reality. This presentation will provide an overview of multivariate statistics\, covering the framework\, multivariate regression analysis\, factor component analysis\, and structural equation modeling. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet the Speaker\nZugui Zhang\, PhD\nDr. Zugui Zhang is director of biostatistics at iREACH\, ChristianaCare and Fellow of American Heart Association. He received an MS in statistics from Arizona State University and his PhD in biostatistics from the University of Iowa.  He joined ChristianaCare in 2007 and has been Director of Biostatistics since 2017.  He holds appointments as Affiliated Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Delaware and Thomas Jefferson University.  He has worked extensively on large\, international\, multi-center\, randomized clinical trials and observational studies.\n\n \nMicrosoft TeamsJoin the meeting nowMeeting ID: 273 131 074 609Passcode: 6m8ucbDial-in by phone+1 302-483-7154\,\,474430086# United States\, WilmingtonFind a local numberPhone conference ID: 474 430 086#For organizers: Meeting options | Reset dial-in PIN\n \n \n\n\nPlease RSVP to Debra.Reese@ChristianaCare.org Include your name\, email address\, and institution/organization.  We will provide instructions on obtaining CME credit for attendance. \nWork supported by an Institutional Development Award (IDeA) from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health under grant number U54-GM104941 (PI:Hicks) and the State of Delaware.

SUMMARY:Raising a Resilient Scientist Pt. 5 (5-Part Series)
DESCRIPTION:A five-part series including lectures and discussion groups for faculty\, staff scientists\, and administrators who mentor students and postdoctoral fellows in the biomedical\, behavioral\, and social sciences. \nThe goal of the Raising a Resilient Scientist series is to promote the mental health and well-being of the academic research community by supporting faculty and administrators to develop self-management\, relationship-management\, and mentoring skills. A variety of topics will be covered with a specific focus on communication and shared problem-solving to help trainees deal with the inevitable setbacks experienced in high knowledge environments. \nThere are five units in the series; each unit will consist of a 75-minute lecture followed by a 1-hour facilitated discussion with peers. \nRegistration is required.  \nSchedule: \n\nCommunication Skills to Build Trainee Resilience (Feb. 1)\nPromoting Trainee Resilience (March 7)\nBuilding a Welcoming and Inclusive Research Group (April 11)\nDifficult Conversations\, Conflict\, and Feedback (May 9)\nThe Mental Health and Well-being of Your Trainees (June 13)

SUMMARY:9th Biennial National IDeA Symposium of Biomedical Research Excellence (NISBRE)
DESCRIPTION:Registration is open!\nThe 9th Biennial National IDeA Symposium of Biomedical Research Excellence (NISBRE) has officially launched its website and is now open for registration. This event serves as a platform to highlight the scientific research and training achievements supported by the IDeA program of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The conference is a key meeting point for professionals and scholars in the field. The NISBRE2024 Organizing Committee\, in collaboration with NAIPI\, is ensuring the event’s success\, which includes managing registration fees and providing financial support for meals and various awards at the conference.
