DESCRIPTION:Registration is Open for the Responsible Conduct of Research Training!\n\n  \nResponsible Conduct of Research Training\nThe Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) course is designed to promote the practice of ethical science. The rapid growth of scientific knowledge\, the increasing complexity and pace of research\, and the influx of scientific trainees with diverse backgrounds have resulted in a need for continuing education on the highest standards of scientific conduct within medical settings. This course provides advanced training for investigators\, trainees\, and research staff in federal regulations\, institutional policies and procedures\, and the norms and standards of research behavior. This course assists both new and experienced investigators as they strive to safeguard the integrity of the research process. \nThis course provides training consistent with the current policies of the National Institutes of Health (NOT-OD-22-055) regarding instruction in the Responsible Conduct of Research. The topics included parallel those originally developed\, revised\, and approved by the Scientific Directors of the National Institutes of Health and the NIH Committee on Scientific Conduct and Ethics. \nThis course is required for trainees and investigators on NIH-funded grants every four years as per the policies of the NIH (NOT-OD-22-055). SUMMARY:Tech Talk: Meta Data Analysis
DESCRIPTION:Thursday October 2\, 2025 from 12:00-1:00pm\nVirtual Teams Presentation \nMeta-Data Analysis is a powerful statistical method that synthesizes findings across multiple studies to derive more precise and generalizable estimates of treatment effects. In addition to pooling odds ratios to evaluate categorical outcomes\, this method also enables estimation of continuous outcomes—such as mean changes and their confidence intervals—across diverse study populations. Meta-analysis increases statistical power\, enhances clinical interpretability\, and allows quantification of heterogeneity using metrics like I² and τ². This talk provides a comprehensive overview of meta-analytic techniques\, including data preparation\, calculation of pooled estimates for both binary and continuous outcomes\, exploration of subgroup effects\, and interpretation of results using forest plots and summary tables. Drawing from recent real-world comparative effectiveness studies in medicine and public health\, this session will illustrate how incorporating newly available studies can update pooled evidence\, and how summary findings can directly inform clinical decision-making and health policy evaluation.  \nMeet the Speaker\n \n\n\nZugui Zhang\, PhD \nDirector of BiostatisticsChristiana Care Health Systems \nDr. Zugui Zhang is director of biostatistics at iREACH\, ChristianaCare and Fellow of American Heart Association. He received an MS in statistics from Arizona State University and his PhD in biostatistics from the University of Iowa. He joined ChristianaCare in 2007 and has been Director of Biostatistics since 2017. He holds appointments as Affiliated Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Delaware and Thomas Jefferson University. He has worked extensively on large\, international\, multi-center\, randomized clinical trials and observational studies. \n\n\n \n\n \nMicrosoft TeamsJoin the meeting nowMeeting ID: 260 254 371 463Passcode: 5tL3rC9q \n\n\n \nDial in by phone+1 302-483-7154\,\,560603931# United States\, WilmingtonFind a local number \n \n\nTo receive instructions on obtaining (1) CME credit for attendance\, please RSVP to Debra.Reese@ChristianaCare.org. \n  \n\n\n\nWork supported by an Institutional Development Award (IDeA) from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health under grant number U54-GM104941 (PI:Hicks) and the State of Delaware.

SUMMARY:Innovative Discovery Series - Food Security and Stigma
DESCRIPTION:  \nFood insecurity is of increasing concern and affects millions of Americans\, yet the invisible burden of stigma often prevents individuals from accessing the nutritional support they need. This presentation explores how stigma associated with poverty\, race\, and food assistance creates barriers to food security at both structural and individual levels. Drawing on new research including the Stigma and Food Inequity Framework\, we will examine how shame\, discrimination\, and stereotype threat shape food purchasing behaviors and program participation. From people disguising themselves when using benefit cards to parents sacrificing meals for their children\, we will uncover the hidden manifestations of stigma. The talk will highlight evidence-based interventions to reduce stigma at multiple levels. \nLearn more \nWhen: Tuesday\, October 28\, 2025 – Noon – 1:00 P.M. \nWhere: Virtual Presentation through Microsoft Teams

SUMMARY:Innovative Discovery Series - Working Smarter with PneuRip
DESCRIPTION:Respiratory Inductive Plethysmography is a method of evaluating pulmonary ventilation by measuring the movement of the chest and abdominal wall. The measurement of the thoracoabdominal motion may be used to objectively measure work of breathing. PneuRIP is a bedside\, real time tool that allows researchers to transition RIP to a clinical diagnostic tool. The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate how PneuRIP can be used to explain clinical observations improve the care we provide to infants admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The objectives of this presentation are: \n\nPresent recent studies performed by our group that used PneuRip in the neonatal patient population\nReview the benefits and limitations of Respiratory Inductive Plethysmography (RIP)\nIntroduce PneuRIP\, a software application that allows RIP to be used at the bedside\n\nLearn more \nWhen: Tuesday\, December 16\, 2025 – Noon – 1:00 P.M. \nWhere: Virtual Presentation through Microsoft Teams
