SUMMARY:Tech Talk: Expanding aiNsect’s Data Footprint for Equitable Health Outcomes In Our Lifetime
DESCRIPTION:Fruit flies have been used as model organisms for over 100 years. As a result\, there exists a wealth of information on their genetic\, neural\, behavioral\, and physiological characteristics. With modern technology these data types can be processed toward a general synthesis of biological understanding\, allowing rapid testing\, and understanding of human biology without the need for human subjects. aiNsect is a next-generation artificial intelligence that aims to facilitate the translation of basic biological research with fruit flies into meaningful outcomes for equitable human health. In this talk\, Chase Stratton\, PhD\, Delaware State University\, will cover the general approach he is taking to develop and train aiNsect’s digital brain\, the data that it will process\, and the potential of its applications. \nMeet the Speaker\n   \n\n\nChase Stratton\, PhDAssistant Professor\, BiologyDelaware State University\nMy research background is in sustainable pest management and data science. I study ways to manipulate agricultural settings with natural products\, that reduce insect pest presence or damage with minimal environmental impacts. I am generally interested in plant-insect-microbe interactions\, chemical ecology\, bioinformatics (specifically in the realm of plant phylogenies)\, cheminformatics\, and writing code to assist in complex analyses. As the director of the Data Science Research and Education Hub at DSU Downtown\, I am expanding the machine learning infrastructure available to DSU faculty and students and will provide training opportunities for anyone interested in exploring high-performance computing in their research.\n\n \nMicrosoft TeamsJoin the meeting nowMeeting ID: 262 549 558 701Passcode: AikkikDial-in by phone+1 302-483-7154\,\,474430086# United States\, WilmingtonFind a local numberPhone conference ID: 474 430 086#For organizers: Meeting options | Reset dial-in PIN\n \n \n\n\nPlease RSVP to Debra.Reese@ChristianaCare.org Include your name\, email address\, and institution/organization.  We will provide instructions on obtaining CME credit for attendance. \nWork supported by an Institutional Development Award (IDeA) from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health under grant number U54-GM104941 (PI:Hicks) and the State of Delaware.

SUMMARY:Tech Talk: Multivariate Analysis for Investigators
DESCRIPTION:Multivariable analysis refers to statistical models that incorporate multiple independent or response variables. Such models include several variables on the right side of the equation\, enabling the assessment of relationships between numerous factors while accounting for potential confounders. Multivariate statistics encompasses various forms of analysis tailored to different objectives across numerous fields. These analyses serve several purposes\, such as examining data patterns\, facilitating clear comparisons\, eliminating irrelevant information\, and studying multiple factors simultaneously. Considering a multitude of variables makes multivariate analysis both complex and indispensable. Its greatest strength lies in incorporating as many factors as possible\, which minimizes bias and yields results that closely reflect reality. This presentation will provide an overview of multivariate statistics\, covering the framework\, multivariate regression analysis\, factor component analysis\, and structural equation modeling. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet the Speaker\nZugui Zhang\, PhD\nDr. Zugui Zhang is director of biostatistics at iREACH\, ChristianaCare and Fellow of American Heart Association. He received an MS in statistics from Arizona State University and his PhD in biostatistics from the University of Iowa.  He joined ChristianaCare in 2007 and has been Director of Biostatistics since 2017.  He holds appointments as Affiliated Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Delaware and Thomas Jefferson University.  He has worked extensively on large\, international\, multi-center\, randomized clinical trials and observational studies.\n\n \nMicrosoft TeamsJoin the meeting nowMeeting ID: 273 131 074 609Passcode: 6m8ucbDial-in by phone+1 302-483-7154\,\,474430086# United States\, WilmingtonFind a local numberPhone conference ID: 474 430 086#For organizers: Meeting options | Reset dial-in PIN\n \n \n\n\nPlease RSVP to Debra.Reese@ChristianaCare.org Include your name\, email address\, and institution/organization.  We will provide instructions on obtaining CME credit for attendance. \nWork supported by an Institutional Development Award (IDeA) from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health under grant number U54-GM104941 (PI:Hicks) and the State of Delaware.
