National rankings in 2008-2012 placed Delaware 2nd in the nation for cancer incidence and 14th in the nation for cancer mortality. Cancer incidence and mortality rates have been declining steadily in Delaware since 1980-1984. For cancer control and prevention efforts in Delaware it is important to understand not only incidence and mortality trends, but also behavioral factors which contribute to cancer risk. Understanding all three components gives a more complete picture of the cancer burden in Delaware.
